Today marked the first day that students from the Higher Degree programmes at Escola Pia Mataró engaged with the BE-Games — a collection of empathy-based games designed to promote active learning and personal growth. Equipped with a playbook of BE-Games from the Erasmus+ project Mind the Future, students were invited to choose and implement various activities within their classroom settings.
As they played, students demonstrated and developed a wide range of essential soft skills, including teamwork, active listening, emotional intelligence, creativity, adaptability, and effective communication. The playful format encouraged a deeper connection between peers, fostered mutual respect, and enhanced their ability to understand different perspectives — all key components of empathy.
“This activity helped me listen to what others were feeling, not just what they were saying,” said one student, reflecting on the impact of the games. Another added, “I realized that good communication is not just about talking — it’s about making sure everyone feels understood.”
This dynamic approach to learning not only brought energy and collaboration into the classroom but also aligned with the school’s commitment to holistic education and the development of both personal and professional competencies.
